Acupuncture can be extremely beneficial and the different variations of treatment that we offer are explained below:

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a form of treatment in Ancient Chinese Medicine that dates back over 2,000 years ago. It is a safe, minimally-invasive, and a drug-free treatment that involves inserting sterile, disposable needles in specific points in the body to achieve desired results. After needles are safely inserted, they are left in for 15-20 min to allow stimulation to that area.

In Ancient Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture aims to restore vital energy in the body known as Qi (chee). In western medicine, it is used to stimulate specific points in the body and attract blood flow to that area to promote healing.

What is AcuStimulation?

In addition to traditional acupuncture, we can amplify the effects by connecting the needles to an electrical stimulation device. This allows for deeper stimulation of acupuncture points or specific muscles. It feels similar to electrical stimulation used in a TENS unit; it is just as safe, but more specific to the area being treated.

What is Dry Needling?

In addition to Acupuncture, we also offer dry needling. Dry needling focuses on treating trigger points in various muscles in the body. Just like acupuncture, it is a safe, minimally-invasive, and a drug-free treatment that involves inserting sterile, disposable needles in specific points in the body to achieve desired results.

The main difference is that the location of the needles are chosen based on where trigger points are, and the needles are manipulated to release scar tissue once inserted. The needles can be mobilized which is commonly called pistoning.
